Mermaid Monday #19: Black And White Mermaid

I don’t know about you, but I am tremendously sick of wedding dresses. That’s one of the two problems I have when I do theme weeks: first, I get sick of the subject, second, I feel like I want to make every day better than the one before. It’s not necessarily a good combination. I do feel, though, like I’ve got the desire to play around with the white gel pen out of my system, though. I haven’t even been able to bring myself to finish the veil from Friday’s, and I missed a day for the first time since I started again, because I wasn’t feeling well Saturday. Well, this week, there will be color! Lots of color! But for today, a replacement black-and-white mermaid outfit. So let us say instead, there will be color! lots of color! tomorrow! Or color this and post it yourself, and you can provide me with color for a day.

It does occur to me that this style of top works rather poorly on this doll shape if you actually cut it out… I’m sorry, I don’t have time to try to fix it tonight. I’ll think about it a little more, though.

One benefit of the theme weeks is that I do enjoy putting up the polls afterward…

  1. the mermaid monday serie is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Congratz Liana, nice work!
I want you see my gals of my cartoon^^

  2. Awww… I voted for the 50s dress, because cute always wins me over; but then I saw the Gilded Age dress didn’t get any votes yet! So sad—that would be my second pick, because it’s so unusual and detailed and lovely! But they are all beautiful, and I thank you for continuing to post new dresses (nearly) every day!

I didn’t realize what you meant about the top for this dress not working with the doll until I went and looked at the doll—it’s because there’s no room for a tab between her body/arm, right? But I’d think if the doll was printed, one could just make a little slit where the body and arm meet and use an insert-tab to keep the top in place.

  3. Nice little outfit to eat herring lunch in. I’m ready to some color also-I’ll be watching.

I didn’t post on the gray dress from yesterday but I just love it. It’s very period and very likely to be the perfect dress for that second wedding.

  4. I love your theme weeks, but i can understand getting sick of them – you could always do three-day themes if you get a theme you want to do, or, like with the wedding dresses, rather than just wedding dresses, do the wedding party – mother of the bride, maid of honor, bridesmaids, old flower girl, mother of the groom, ushers :)
Keep drawing forever, please :) I love your designs!!!!!

  5. I enjoy theme weeks every once in a while, but I think most of the time I would rather see completely different dresses. Maybe you could do the theme week like once a month or something…

  6. Camilla, a lot of the times black and white dresses are an alternative to doing nothing at all. But you can pretend they don’t exist, if you like ;)
