I ended up having the flu, and I’m almost feeling better; technically, I’m still coughing, my diet is still based around plain white rice and applesauce, and I haven’t tested that thing for a while where I get nauseous if I’m on my feet too long. But my mind has been better for a while now, and my powers of concentration have caught up enough to draw something. There is not much thought behind this one besides “I am so very bored of having the flu.”

My heart is with everyone in Japan affected by the recent disasters. I hope you will all keep them in your thoughts, as well. I feel like I’d like to write more, but it’s beyond me… I feel intensely grateful that the people I care about are all safe, and I pray for safety and peace in the time to come.

  1. It’s very pretty Liana! And I’m glad your feeling better! I also feel bad for those in China…And in my house we had our own little water problem. At 2 o’clock in the morning my dad woke me up and said are basement had flooded! So I have spent the last few nights in a hotel and we just got home. So this dress really made me happy! Thanks Liana!

  3. Very lovely and cheerful–especially appreciated as it is gray here, and snowing, AGAIN. I thought of you, immediately, when the news about the earthquake came on; knowing your connectivity. I have looked at the pictures again and again. Cant wrap my mind around it. Hope the quakes and tsuanmis are done now.

  4. if you print it out twice and on one cut off the under skirt you have two very different dresses, and i think i actually like that one better the more i look at it. though this way is nice too.

  5. Hi Liana! Beautiful new dress, by the way! Also, I have a short-story blog that I just created, called Blue Jasmine. You can find a link at the Silent Moonstone Short Story page on the Silent Moonstone Blog, for which there is a link to at the bottom of this page. Also, you can submit poetry and short stories to me, and I’ll post them, and there’s contests and videos and things…but anyway, I love that you’re into rainbows. ;-) Good luck and hope you get better soon!

  6. another rainbow dress, yay! I really like the ruffles and the sash looks like watercolor :)
    Please get better soon Liana.

  7. Gorgeous dress! It’s so cold here…I wish March would stop being so irritating. This dress makes me feel like the flowers are blooming anyway…even if it’s in my mind!

  8. So beautiful! I just love it.. One of my best friend’s friends died in the tsunami. I feel so bad for her, she’s been down all day. Do you know anyone there? Just wondering, as you said all the people you care about are safe.. or maybe you meant here. Oh, and the link to Maren Kate’s site is on out blog page too.

  9. To me the green overskirt represents the tsunami in japan, while the rainbow underskirt represents a rainbow of hope. This dress symbolises how after the tsunami, there will be joy.
    Pray for Japan

  10. I love the leaves on the scroll pattern on the overskirt. The first thing my husband said Friday morning was “There was a huge earthquake in Japan just now.” It’s been the most talked about thing around here for the last several days.

I had a thought, just now, while listening to a song that started out sounding good and then turned into the kind of music I do NOT listen to. How about a Homecoming Dress? Not homecoming like high school football, but Coming Home, maybe from a several year trip around the world or a long military sojourn far off in some dangerous land? In fact, as I’m typing this, I think that a dress from several wars would be cool, starting even back at the Civil War. But you probably still aren’t feeling well, and I’m just blathering on. I hope you feel better soon.

  11. So glad that you are feeling better Liana, amazing dress by the way… You are so good at drawing, I wish I was that good, I can’t draw very well… Oh well we can’t all be good at everything…

  12. I am new to your blog. I found it today. I looked up rainbow with green on Google images because I felt in the mood to look up rainbows. As I scrolled down I found this dress. I love it. :) :)I showed it to my godmother and her best friend. They loved it to. They are amazing at making dresses, so they promised me to make this dress for my junior prom. I just wanted to tell you so you can think in three years some random girl is wearing your dress you drew because you felt like drawing it. Thanks I hope you do not mind if you do please tell me. I love it so much. 
