Two Fairy Dresses from Liana’s Paper Doll Boutique

On the good side, I got a new pencil sharpener; its box promises an “extra heavy duty motor” and indicates that it is designed for “continuous” use. Which is good, because I subject my poor sharpeners to some sad conditions… Anyways, today I got started too late and wasn’t feeling inspired at all, so here are two fairy dresses from the old Boutique.

The poll continues:

January Birthday Dress with Garnets and White Carnations from Liana’s Paper Doll Boutique

This is one of the “birthday dresses” I did for the Boutique that I referred to earlier — even if it’s ten years old I like this one better than the one I did this year. Well, maybe I’ll just try again next January.

So, I have a lovely design for the dress I intended to do today, and then my pencil sharpener died. Poor thing, I probably did put it through its paces… Come back tomorrow for something pretty!

Blue Watery Masquerade Ball Gown with Satin Blue Underskirt and Crystals

So recently, I got an e-mail from Diana asking if I could draw a dress for a roleplay she was taking part in. I went through and read the scenario, and Diana’s character Leslie is a human spy in a magical world who has to infiltrate a masquerade ball attended by aristocrats. So I thought this was a fun challenge: what sort of thing might a spy wear to such a ball? It’s dead easy to make a gown that says “hey everyone, look at me!” or one that says “I am a Woman of Mystery” but one that looks expensive and magical enough that no one questions its wearer’s right to be there, yet isn’t so noticeable that everyone winds up talking about her… fun. I ended up going with blue, a rich but soothing color, and an overskirt with fabric like shimmering water and seafoam, studded with crystals — although I don’t really think the crystals worked out too well. Oh well. Diana, I hope you like it anyways, and I look forward to seeing where the story goes!

The poll is yet ongoing…

Two New Year’s Dresses from Liana’s Paperdoll Boutique

These are two dresses from the old Boutique holiday section. Since they’re so old, I can’t say for sure but I’m pretty sure they were intended for New Year’s parties, and although it is a little too late I thought I’d put them up. Not that I did much partying, but I did stay up until midnight at least, and made black-eyed pea curry with collard greens.

I think the poll is quite interesting so far, take it if you haven’t…
