Well, this dress shows quite clearly why I shouldn’t put off drawing until 9:30 PM — and furthermore, why I shouldn’t try to correct mistakes at 10:15 PM. The black ribbon used to be a too-light lilac that was swallowed up by the rest of the purple; it did need to be changed, and I don’t know what I could have done better, but I do know I couldn’t have done much worse. Oh well. I like the rest of it, and I hope you all do too!

Misplaced black ribbon or no, at the moment I’m all caught up for the year with birthday dresses, which is a nice – and rather rare – feeling! February’s flower is the primrose, and the birth stone is the amethyst.

This post also shows why I shouldn’t start writing at 10:30 PM, so I think I had better stop here for now! I will try to muster up more spirit on Thursday.

  1. Same. I like everything but the black ribbon and the bottom of the skirt. Otherwise, it’s beautiful. Good job!

  2. @ Maren kate
Its not the black ribbon so much, I don’t think, as the little bits of red that make it odd

  3. Even though some have said that the black ribbons are a bit strange, I find that they fit perfectly. Of course, my own personal fashion sense isn’t quite of the norm, but this dress is to my liking. Beautiful work!

  4. liana, how come most of the dresses you draw are floor/ankle length? how come you hardly draw shorter ones anymore?

  5. I like the black ribbon and red lining :D It makes an otherwise conventionally fantasy-styled dress (that’s the best way I can describe it) fun and quirky!

  6. Hm, that’s right — I haven’t drawn anything short since December! It is probably because it’s not quite spring yet ^^;; I can’t draw a short February birthday dress, after all. Now something shorter is starting to sound fun..

  7. great dress. I’m a Feb. child, and I love it, black ribbon, red underskirt and all. I’m with Artemis (great name by the way, one of my favorite goddesses, actually); really good!
looking forward to short dresses, but I do prefer long ones. mayhap it’s ’cause I’m a winter baby? I love thebirthday dresses, the January and February are my favourites

  8. This is a beautiful dress. I just barely stumbled upon your blog, and I instantly fell in love with it. I am now an avid follwer.

  9. If you tilt your screen back a bit, the black seems to be less noticeable. I like the rest of it a lot, it’s really pretty. I’m waiting for my birthday dress.. August.
