Contest update

I’m afraid I don’t have time to do a paperdoll tonight, but I wanted to extend the contest, so I had better give you the day’s hint!

If I was going to draw an outfit from this book, I would probably do a Regency-style gown, but in the book’s original illustrations, the women were wearing styles from three decades later.

Update: Kathleen had the winning guess: my favorite book is Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. Congratulations Kathleen! Let me know which dress you’d like colored and how!

  1. ooh, I guessed it right!! OK, how about the 1930s evening gown with the peplum. It’s kind of old, but I love it. And could you do like a metalicy gold for the dress with black lace for the peplum?

  2. Kathleen the gold dangly thing could be called a pomander, a form of portable perfume in Medieval times, I have one coz I’m a sucker for that stuff!

  3. have you ever read Cap’O’Rushes? in the fairytale, the princess wears three gowns- a shimmmering silver “moonlight” one, a gleaming golden “sun” one, and a twinkling one covered in gems “like stars”. maybe you could draw them?
